Go Make Friends At Digital Point and Site Point – NOW!
By Sheila on Mar 13, 2009 in List of Advertising Sites
The best way (in my opinion) to learn how to market anything on the internet is to talk to other internet marketers. Two of the very best places to do this is Sitepoint Forums and Digital Point Forums.
These forums are huge and if you haven’t joined them yet you should stop what you are doing right now and go join them. The amount of information and ideas packed into the heads of some of these guys over at these forums is astounding.
Create an interesting Signature link. Set a goal for yourself of at least 10 posts a day in each forum. Offer to help people out when they ask questions. Submit your site to their “review” section and review other sites in return. Every single time I hang out in one of these forums I learn something new.
Another advantage to posting to forums is that the search engines will pick it up. The forums get indexed by the search engines just like any other website. This means that if someone is searching for a particular keyword phrase, and you posted to a topic that is relevant to that search, your post might show up.
It is important that you stay professional and be courteous of others in a forum. Once you get established and earn credibility, the more people will trust you. Over time you may even have the opportunity to become a joint-venture partner with a fellow forum member. An important point when posting to a topic is to keep your post relevant to the topic being discussed. You do not want to advertise anything in your post, just provide information that will be helpful to others. Forum members are very protective of their forums and they can’t stand spam. Spam just is not tolerated which makes these forums even more special and relevant.
If you are not involved in forums you are missing out on free website traffic that can easily be yours. Not only will you learn a lot and be able share and interact with others, but you will be earning backlinks to your site and gaining quality website traffic at the same time. The best part is that it does not cost anything except your time, so consider it as free advertising for your website or business.
So today instead of getting a huge list of forums to advertise on all you have to do is visit 2. Get your site out there today.

Thanks for the tips. I have been a member at digital point and webmaster-talk for a while now, but did not know about sitepoint. Hopefully it will be as useful as the other 2 have been.

Digitalpoint and Sitepoint are great, some other forums are like namepros but mainly have to do with domain and marketing but it is still great to sign up since all these 3 forums are HUUUGGEE.

Yep, I have been using these 2 forums for some time, even before “Skipratt” blog! Posts get indexed quickly by search engines, but G favours the few and not all of them from each forum.

I agree completely! I’m a huge fan of the Digital Point Forums (even though I just got a temp ban for doing something stupid).

I agree very much with this post. I’m a big believer in DP. It’s like keep your ear to the ground. Anything new in the industry gets talked about there.
